Things you should do and don't during hair transplant recovery

Hair loss is becoming a common issue for a majority of people and hair transplant surgery seems to be becoming the most popular way to promote hair growth. Possibly if you have already undergone the transplant procedure and would likely be enjoying your thicker hair. There are a few things one should do and don’t during hair transplant recovery -:
  1. Avoid sun exposure – The transplant treatment is quite sensitive and can be easily damaged once too harsh sun rays. It is important to keep in mind that you shouldn’t go out in the sun unless your grafts are healed. Make sure to wear a hat before you go out to work.
  2. Keep your scalp clean – It’s important that you should keep your hair scalp clean through the recovery phase, as it lessens the risk of infection. You must only use shampoo suggested by your surgeon when washing your hair. The best way to avert soaking up excess water, it is advised that you must use a wet sponge to clean your scalp. Also, avoid rubbing the sponge too hard on the scalp.
  3. Handle your scar with care – No matter how good your surgery may go, there is a greater likelihood that you might be left with a scar on your head. Also, you may experience itchiness while new hair follicles start growing on the head. However, taking proper medication prescribed by the surgeon can help in reducing the itching as well as smell.
  4. Avoid exercise or workout – Excessive sweating of the scalp can heighten the risk of infection. That’s why you should avoid all sorts of activities that can make your sweat, especially exhausting workout sessions in the gym or strenuous exercises.
  5. Keep your head elevated – To prevent swelling on the scalp, it is crucial that you keep your head elevated, especially while sleeping. The same night, following the transplant, make sure to use two or more pillows to lift up your head since it will save the bruised skin on your scalp safe from any excess swelling.
